im having porblems with the pto. the switch has off on and engage. when you put it on the engage and release the swith it stay in the on position but the blades wont stay engaged.. ihave replaced the switch and that did not fix it...i have traced the wires and none are broken..please help i cant figure this thing out. thanks for time and help

With that little info it's hard to tell anything really, but it sounds like the electric clutch is shot.
The clutch does however take some power to stay engaged, more than the magneto could provide, if the battery is weak it's possible there isn't enough power to keep it locked up, but I doubt it would start if that was the case.

Have you check to be sure there is power to the switch and then to the clutch? Have you check for a blown fuse? Before could you hear the clutch when it was engaged click and if so can you hear it now? If so there is power getting to it. kt ....

More than likely, the electric clutch is just out of adjustment. The discs of the clutch are spring loaded and adjustment can be made with (3) shoulder/stripper bolts. You use a feeler gauge. I've forgotten the gage setting. Either ask your local dealer repairman or check with them on line. .017" seems to be the number, but am not for sure. If the gap is too tight, it won't shut off. Too wide it won't engage. When it is close to being to wide, it will work when cold and then will not restart when hot. ....
